Green Zone in Mannheim, Germany

Mannheim introduced a low-emissions zone back in 2008 and has gradually tightened the conditions for the emissions class. The aim of the zone is to avoid an increase in emissions by preventing vehicles from entering that are least environmentally friendly. As of January 1, 2013, only German and foreign drivers with a valid green plaque placed on the windscreen can visit Mannheim.

Which types of vehicles are affected?

The obligation to own the environmental badge applies to both German and foreign passenger cars (M1); motorhomes (M1); heavy campers (M1); minibuses (M2); buses (M3); small transporters (N1); transporters (N2); trucks (N2); and heavy goods vehicles (N3).
