About Green Zones in Bremen

Green Zone in Bremen, Germany

The German city of Bremen, together with the city of Düsseldorf, introduced the environmental zones in 2009. Specifically, from the 1. 1. 2009 only vehicles with a valid red, yellow or green badge were allowed to enter the city. A year later, vehicles with a red sticker were banned and from mid-2011 also those with a yellow sticker.

Bremen cares about its air quality and being a peaceful city so allows entry only to the most environmentally friendly vehicles.

Driving in Bremen

Are you going to Bremen by car?

From 1. 7. 2011, all drivers need a green badge to enter Bremen. Entrance is therefore allowed only to vehicles with a minimum level of air pollution that falls under the Euro 4 and Euro 1 emissions classes for diesel and petrol, respectively. Failure to comply with these rules is punished in Germany with a fine of 100 euros. The low-emissions zone of Bremen includes the historic core of the city, the eastern part and the urban areas of Schwachhausen and Neustadt.
