There are restrictions for vehicles of categories N1, N2, and N3 in the environmental zones across Austria. These include the environmental zone in Burgenland, which also covers the districts Eisenstadt, Rust, Eisenstadt Umgebung, Güssing, Mattersburg, Jennersdorf, Neusiedl am See, Oberpullendorf, and Oberwart.
Failure to comply may result in a fine of up to € 2,180 (£ 1800).
You can read more about the types of environmental badges in the section Types of Environmental Badges.
From 1. 10. 2017, a restriction applies to vehicles in categories N1, N2 and N3, allowing entrance only to cars falling within the EURO 2 emissions class and above, and from 1. 10. 2018, within the EURO 3 class and above. Entrance to the low-emissions zone of Burgenland thus requires that the coloured Pickerl plaque be affixed to the windscreen. This plaque states the emissions class. Breach of duty is severely punished – the fine may go up to 2,180 euros (£ 1800).
