The environmental badge should be placed in the bottom-right corner of the windscreen.
Hagen first introduced the low-emissions zone in January 2012, since when the city has tightened the conditions. The reason for introducing this zone is to prevent cars from entering that emit a high concentration of nitrogen oxides and severely deteriorate both the quality of the air and of life for Hagen´s citizens.
From 1st July 2014, both German and foreign drivers are obliged to have the highest, i.e. green environmental badge placed on the windscreen of the vehicle.
The obligation to own the environmental badge applies to both German and foreign passenger cars (M1); motorhomes (M1); heavy campers (M1); minibuses (M2); buses (M3); small transporters (N1); transporters (N2); trucks (N2); and heavy goods vehicles (N3).
From 1.7. 2014, to enter Hagen, all drivers, i.e. both German and foreign, need to purchase a green plaque. Entrance is therefore allowed only to vehicles that produce a minimum level of air pollution that falls under the Euro 4 (diesel) or Euro 1 (petrol) emissions classes. Failure to comply with these rules is punished in Germany with a fine of 100 €.
The low-emissions zone of Hagen includes – the historic city centre, Eckesey, Altenhagen, Ischeland, Loxbaum, Hochschulviertel and Feithstraße; the districts of Eppenhausen, Remberg, Oberhagen, Eilpe to Selbecker Straße, including Wehringhausen along the Rehstraße.
