This low emission zone has been abolished. No environmental badge is required for any type of vehicle to enter. Environmental badges that have already been issued remain valid for all other low emission zones in Germany.
Heidenheim introduced a low-emissions zone of the strictest class on January 1, 2013. From this date on, you can only enter the city with a valid green plaque placed on the car´s windscreen. The aim of the low-emissions zone is to regulate the number of vehicles that are highly involved in air pollution.
As of January 1, 2013, entrance to Heidenheim is only allowed to vehicles with a valid green environmental badge placed on the car´s windscreen. Entrance is therefore allowed only to vehicles that produce a minimum level of air pollution that falls under the Euro 4 (diesel) or Euro 1 (petrol) emissions classes.
Failure to comply with these rules is punished in Germany with a fine of 100 €. The entire city area falls into the Heidenheim environmental zone.
