This low emission zone has been abolished. No environmental badge is required for any type of vehicle to enter. Environmental badges that have already been issued remain valid for all other low emission zones in Germany.
As of 1. 1. 2013, Leonberg, Hemmingen and the cities of the surrounding region – Ditzingen, Gerlingen, Hemmingen, Korntal-Münchingen and Schwieberdingen – require a green environmental plaque for entry. The aim is to improve air quality by reducing the concentration of emissions produced by less environmentally friendly vehicles. Drivers of both German and foreign passenger cars and trucks have to place the stamp on the windscreen. In 2008, environmental zones were introduced also, for example, in Hannover and Munich, so to obtain an environmental sticker will certainly pay off.
From 1st January 2013, entry to Leonberg, Hemmingen and the surrounding area is permitted only with a green environmental plaque. Thus, only vehicles that produce a minimum level of air pollution – Euro 4 (diesel) or Euro 1 (petrol) – are allowed to enter the city. Failure to comply with these rules is punished in Germany with a fine of 100 euros.
The low-emissions zone of Leonberg, Hemmingen and surrounding area includes Ditzingen, Gerlingen, Hemmingen, Korntal-Münchingen and Schwieberdingen.
