The environmental badge should be placed in the bottom-right corner of the windscreen.
Limburg is one of the most heavily burdened German cities in terms of nitrogen oxides and other pollutants produced mainly by heavy traffic and less environmentally friendly vehicles. The aim of the low-emissions zone is to prevent vehicles from entering that emit a high concentration of nitrogen oxides and so severely deteriorate air quality. The restrictions apply to cars and trucks.
Therefore, from 1st February 2018, only German and foreign cars with a valid environmental badge, of the green colour and the strictest class, may enter the city. In 2008, environmental zones were introduced also, for example, in Hannover and Munich, so to obtain an environmental sticker will certainly pay off.
From 1. 2. 2018, entry to Limburg by both German and foreign cars is only permitted on condition that a green plaque is placed on the windscreen. Entrance is therefore allowed only to vehicles with the lowest impact on air pollution and that thus comply with the Euro 4 (diesel) or Euro 1 (petrol) emissions classes. Failure to comply with these rules is punished in Germany with a fine of 100 €.
The Limburg low-emissions zone excludes the A3, the B8 motorways from the north-east to the Limburg-Nord junction, and the northern connections B49 and B54.
