This low emission zone has been abolished. No environmental badge is required for any type of vehicle to enter. Environmental badges that have already been issued remain valid for all other low emission zones in Germany.
The city of Neu-Ulm in Bavaria introduced a low-emissions zone relatively early on in November 1, 2009. At first, less environmentally friendly vehicles with a red plaque were allowed to enter the city. However, since 2012, you can only enter the Neu-Ulm low-emissions zone with a yellow or green environmental badge placed on the windscreen.
In future, further tightening of the conditions and the introduction of a green low-emissions zone can be expected, as was the case for most German cities.
From 1. 11. 2012, entry to Neu-Ulm is only allowed to vehicles with a valid yellow or green environmental plaque placed on the windscreen. Entry is therefore limited to vehicles with a low impact on air pollution falling under the Euro 3 and 4 (diesel) or Euro 1 (petrol) emissions classes. Failure to comply with these rules is punished in Germany with a fine of 100 €.
The Neu-Ulm low-emissions zone includes the city’s central area.
