On this same A12 section, driving is permitted only for vehicles meeting the required Euro class. Since 1 January 2021, only Euro VI is allowed (plus fully electric and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles). The Euro class must be proven via the Austrian emissions class sticker (Abgasplakette / IG-L marking) or equivalent proof for certain vehicle types.
During the night, driving is generally prohibited for the affected heavy vehicles. Limited exemptions exist (e.g., specific Euro VI journeys under strict conditions).
Winter period – from 1.11. to 30.4.
Summer period – from 1.5. to 31.10.
Speed restrictions apply to all vehicles during the night hours (22:00–05:00).
Breach of duty is severely punished – the fine may go up to 2,180 euros (i.e. approximately £ 1800).
The environmental badge should be placed in the bottom-right corner of the windscreen.
There are restrictions for vehicles of categories N1, N2, and N3 in the environmental zones across Austria. These include the environmental zone in Tirol, on the A12 Inntal motorway between Langkampfen and Zirl, and districts: Langkampfen, Angath, Wörgl, Kundl, Radfeld, Kramsach, Münster, Wiesing, Jenbach, Buch in Tirol, Stans, Vomp, Terfens, Weer, Kolsass, Wattens, Volder, Mils, Tulfes, Ampass.

From 31. 12. 2017, a restriction applies to vehicles in categories N2 and N3, allowing entrance only to lorries that fall within the EURO 4 emissions class and above. Entrance to the low-emissions zone of Tyrol requires that the coloured Pickerl plaque be affixed to the windscreen. The plaque shows the emissions class. Breach of duty is severely punished – the fine may go up to € 2,180 (£ 1800).
The restriction applies to the section of motorway in both directions between the 6.35th kilometre point, near the village of Langkampfen, and the 90th km point from Zirl.
