Restrictions apply to an approximately 20 km section of motorway (155 km to 176 km) at the city of Linz and is expected to be extended to other sections. If you have a lorry weighing over 3.5 tonnes, it must be marked with the Austrian environmental badge.
Breach of duty is severely punished – the fine may go up to 2,180 euros (i.e. approximately £ 1800).
The environmental badge should be placed in the bottom-right corner of the windscreen.
There are restrictions for vehicles of categories N1, N2, and N3 in the environmental zones across Austria. These include the environmental zone in Oberösterreich, which also covers the districts Ansfelden, Linz, Enns, Pucking, Asten, and St. Florian. And A1 West motorway between Anschlussstelle Enns Ost (km 154,966) and Knoten Haid (km 175,574).
Failure to comply may result in a fine of up to € 2,180 (£ 1800).

For vehicles in categories N1, N2 and N3, restrictions apply from 1.7. 2016, allowing only vehicles that fall within the EURO 3 emissions class and above. Entrance to the low-emissions zone of Upper Austria thus requires that the coloured Pickerl plaque be affixed to the windscreen. This plaque shows the emissions class.
