BFrom 1.1. 2013, Ludwigsburg and the towns from the same region – Markgröningen, Pleidelsheim, Ingersheim, Freiberg am Neckar, Kornwestheim & Remseck, Asperg, Möglingen, Tamm and Bietigheim-Bissingen – require vehicles to display the green environmental badge for entry. The purpose of the zone is to improve air quality in individual municipalities and throughout the region by reducing the concentration of emissions produced by less environmentally friendly vehicles. For both German and foreign drivers, it is a duty to place this plaque on the windscreen. In 2008, environmental zones were introduced also, for example, in Hannover and Munich, so to obtain an environmental sticker will certainly pay off.
From 1st January 2013, both German and foreign drivers need the green badge to enter Ludwigsburg and the adjacent region. Thus, only vehicles that produce a minimum level of air pollution – Euro 4 (diesel) or Euro 1 (petrol) – are allowed to enter the city. Failure to comply with these rules is punished in Germany with a fine of 100 €.
The low-emissions zone of Ludwigsburg and surrounding area includes other towns of the region, in particular Markgröningen, Pleidelsheim, Ingersheim, Freiberg am Neckar, Kornwestheim&Remseck, Asperg, Möglingen, Tamm and Bietigheim-Bissingen.
