Validity of the Chambery Low-emissions Zone

- after 2 days of a smog emergency - entry is allowed only to vehicles with Crit'Air sticker of classes E, 1, 2 and 3,
- with a longer-lasting smog level - the prefect of the department may further tighten the conditions and restrictions of entry.
If you drive without the environmental badge in the activated low-emissions zone, you will pay a fine of € 68 (i.e. approximately £ 62), which can climb to € 375 (i.e. approximately £ 320) in case of late payment.
Driving in Chambery
Are you going to Savoie-Chambery by car?
From 21. 11. 2017, foreign cars must be marked with the “crit'air” environmental badge. This so-called emergency low-emissions zone takes effect when a higher smog level lasts for more than 2 days. Only vehicles with the Crit'air sticker of classes E, 1, 2, and 3 may therefore enter the activated low-emissions zone. There are 6 types of badge in France that express how much the vehicle is involved in air pollution. If you fail to comply with these rules, you risk a fine of € 68 to € 375 (i.e. approximately £ 62 - £ 320).
The entire Savoie department falls within the Chambery low-emissions zone, with the areas of the activated zone that are determined by the department's deputies to be in a state of emergency.
